After 25 years in a successful telecommunications career, Matt felt the calling to something more — a career where he could relate with people as individuals, rather than numbers on a spreadsheet. So he and his wife took the leap, moved from Kansas City and returned back to Colorado, and opened Chick-fil-A Belmar in April 2014.
For Matt, operating a Chick-fil-A restaurant is about so much more than serving a delicious meal.
“I want to be intentional about giving back, both to our staff and to our community. The vision of our restaurant is built on two pillars: investing in our Team Members, and giving back to the community that we serve.”
Paying it Forward
We are firm believers in the idea that “To whom much is given, much will be required.” To us, that means going beyond selling sandwiches and lending a helping hand to the community that supports us every day.
That’s why we love partnering with some of the amazing organizations that are right in our backyard. Organizations like Ralston House that is dedicated to helping child victims heal from abuse. Or The Action Center, an organization that provides assistance for Jefferson County residents struggling with homelessness. We also love to team up with the Jefferson County Boys & Girls Club. And that’s just to name a few.
Also if you’re like us and love packing a shoebox for Operating Christmas Child every year, be sure to drop it off at the restaurant. You just may get a free Chick-fil-A breakfast out of the deal.
More Than Just a Job
You’ve probably heard it said that “our people are our greatest assets.” Well, that sure rings true in our hearts here at Chick-fil-A Belmar. We believe that when you have a good thing, you invest in it. And that’s what we love to do with our team members.
To us, that means intentionally creating an environment where people can thrive. Where they can gain the tools and skills they need to become great leaders in the restaurant and beyond. Because we know that what they learn about serving a guest or working together with a team can set the foundation for the next chapters of life.
But perhaps even more important than all of that is the opportunity for them to feel like they’re a part of something bigger than just getting the job done. Our team members know that with every transaction comes the ability for us to invest even more into the community in and around Belmar and Lakewood.
And that’s when it becomes more than just a job serving chicken.
